Social Economic Factors

There is a sizable difference in the socio-economic make up between Central Saanich and North Saanich (where the new school is to be located). There are about 1/3 more households in Central Saanich as North Saanich yet Central Saanich has twice as many households with income below $20,000/year as North Saanich. North Saanich has about the same number of households with incomes over $80,000 as Central Saanich (remember there are fewer households in North Saanich). Furthermore, the average and median incomes in North Saanich are about $10,000 more than Central Saanich. Check here for the detailed breakdown.

There are also almost twice as many single parents in
Central Saanich as compared to North Saanich.

So, incomes are less, population is younger and a larger proportion of the local population are single parents in Central Saanich (just over 9% of families) than North Saanich (just over 7% of families). If you were building a new public school - where would build it?
