Education Ministry Approval

Many people have noted that the School Board's business case seems somewhat optimistic in terms of cost to build the new school. The Board estimates the cost at $5.2M yet it is more likely to be nearly double that given the construction market at the moment.

As part of the process for acquiring the funding for the new school, the school district must submit a feasibility report that confirms, amongst other issues, the costs outlined in the original business case. The school district is currently at Phase 2 of the feasibility reporting process. The Ministry has a fairly rigorous procedure for this type of project to ensure proper cost controls.
